Susan is committed to educational opportunity for all.  She has awarded dozens of scholarships to hard-working District 9B students through the General Assembly's Delegate Scholarship Program.
 
 
 

Who may apply for one of Susan's Delegate Scholarships:

 
  Graduating high school seniors who live in District 9B.  Find your Legislative District. The awards, which are not renewable, go toward the first year of higher education.
 
 
 

How applicants are evaluated:

 
  Susan's Legislative Scholarship Committee, made up of community and academic leaders, bases its awards on leadership, extracurricular activities, volunteer work, employment and scholarship achievement.
 
 
 

Deadline for application:

 
  The following materials must be received no later than April 30:
  1. Delegate Scholarship Application

    Follow the link above to get a copy of the Scholarship Form.
     
  2. An official sealed high school transcript that includes grades (both weighted and unweighted), SAT/ACT scores, class rank (both weighted and unweighted), and attendance
     
  3. A short letter (one page maximum) explaining your career goals, why you should receive a scholarship and any special circumstances or needs.
     
  4. Student Excellence Profile (page 2 of the application).

    Please mail the completed scholarship form along with items 2 through 4 and return to:

Restrictions on use of scholarship funds:

 
  To be eligible for a Delegate Scholarship, you must plan to attend a Maryland college or university, or a private career school.  Private career schools must have the Maryland Higher Education Commission’s approval to operate and be accredited by a national accrediting association approved by the US. Department of Education.  You may also attend a nursing school if the Commission approves the curriculum.  Students may attend full or part-time.
 
 
 

Exception to the in-state college requirement:

 
  If your major is not offered at a Maryland institution of higher education, you may qualify for a unique major designation.
