On the count of three, 10 golden shovels held by various state, county and local officials dug into a mound of dirt at the Warfield Complex on Tuesday afternoon. Although little earth was moved, the groundbreaking symbolizes a great accomplishment – a decade of planning well done and a dream come to life . . .

Sykesville Mayor Jonathan Herman talks about the importance of the Warfield Complex as a significant economic development engine for the county. Maryland Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr., Sen. Allan H. Kittleman (R-Dist. 9) of West Friendship, and Del. Susan W. Krebs (R-Dist. 9B) of Eldersburg, attended the groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday afternoon. The ceremony was the product of a decade of collaboration of town, county and state entities.
