Krebs appointed to
financial literacy task force
Del.
Susan Krebs, (R-Dist. 9B) of
Eldersburg is part of a new state task force that will assess
whether Maryland elementary, middle and high schools should require
financial literacy education.
House Speaker Michael Busch (D-Dist.
30) of Annapolis recently appointed
Krebs to the Task Force to Study
How To Improve Financial Literacy in the State.
The 21-member task force will examine
the current ability of high school students and graduates to
understand basic financial concepts like budgeting, banking, credit
and investing. Task force members will evaluate existing financial
literacy education in Maryland’s public schools.
‘‘To prepare our citizens to make
decisions about credit cards, car loans and home loans, we need to
make sure they are educated,” Krebs
said in a press release.
Recommendations are due back to the
governor and the General Assembly by Dec. 1.
