About Susan: Biography

Susan W. Krebs is nearing completion of her second term in the Maryland House of Delegates. Susan was first elected in 2002, when the state carved out a brand new legislative district for the rapidly growing South Carroll County. In 2006, Susan received overwhelming support from residents in every precinct, when she was re-elected as our District 9B Delegate representing Sykesville, Eldersburg, Woodbine, Gamber and Winfield.

Now in a strong second term, Susan continues to focus on education and economic development for South Carroll. Her experience as President of the Carroll County Board of Education, combined with her accounting background, made her a clear choice for appointment to the Task Force to Study How to Improve Financial Literacy and the Governor’s Workforce Investment Board Adult Learning Oversight Committee. She also moved to the Health and Government Operations Committee from her previous post on the Ways and Means Committee and serves on the Health Facilities & Occupations Subcommittee and the Public Health and Long Term Care Subcommittee. Susan is pleased to have accepted a nomination to serve on the Carroll Hospice Board. She also serves as Vice Chairman of the Western Maryland Delegation. In each of these committees, Susan continues to voice the need for responsible, efficient and equitable government use of our tax dollars.

In her first term, Susan held leadership positions of House liaison to the Senate Republican Caucus, Parliamentarian for the Republican House Caucus and Assistant Ranking Republican on the House Economic Matters Committee. She also partnered with former Governor Ehrlich to eliminate unproductive programs and create a leaner state government. This partnership helped the South Carroll community secure state funding for important road improvements, education projects and economic development.
