There are many important events that will be coming up soon in our community.
 

   The Freedom Area Bike and Pedestrian Trails Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 25 at 7 pm at the South Carroll Senior Center. The meeting will discuss the expansion of paths for bicycles and walking in our community. More information can be found by clicking here on this link.

 

   The Freedom Areas Citizens Council (FACC) will meet Thursday, April 26 at 7:30 pm at the South Carroll Senior Center. I will be discussing the possible upcoming special session on the state budget and the impact of the just concluded 2012 Legislative Session of the Maryland General Assembly. 

 

   Commissioner Howard will host a community meeting Monday, April 30 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm at the South Carroll Senior Center. The community is invited to attend and discuss issues of concern, including the proposal to build a retirement community at the Eli Property.

 

 

I urge you to take the opportunity to attend the upcoming Budget Community Meetings to discuss the Proposed Carroll County Budget.

 

* Freedom Elementary School Cafetorium on Wednesday, April 25 at 7 pm

* North Carroll Branch of the Carroll County Public Library on Thursday, April 26 at 7 pm

* Mt. Airy Elementary School Media Center on Tuesday, May 1 at 7 pm

The final Carroll County Budget Public Hearing will be held on Monday, May 14 at the Carroll Community College's Scott Center Auditorium at 7 pm.

 

Activities in early May:

 

   Carroll County Delegation will meet with the Board of County Commissioners on Thursday, May 3 at 10 am to discuss the impact of the 2012 Legislative Session on the Carroll County budget and other issues affecting our county.

 

   Sykesville's 2012 Fine Art and Wine Festival will be held Sunday, May 6 at 12 pm to 5 pm along Main Street in downtown Sykesville. For more information, click here on this link.

 

   Taste of Eldersburg will be held at the Winfield Fire Department on Sunday, May 6 from 5pm to 8 pm. For more information, click here on this link or contact Tracy Cox at 410-795-9101.

 

   Local participating restaurants include Salerno's, Just Desserts, The Cork Pub, Rita's Italian Ice, Liberatore's, New York J & P Pizza, Franks Pizza, Cobblestone Tavern, G.L Shacks Grill, Starbucks, and Qdoba.

 

   Civil War Living History Reenactment will be held at the Carroll County Farm Museum on Saturday, May 5 from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday, May 6 from 10 am to 4 pm. There will be farmhouse tours and re-created historical moments from the Civil War. For more information, contact Dottie Freeman at 410-386-3880.

 

   Taste of Carroll, to benefit Carroll Hospice, will be held at Gerstell Academy on Monday, May 7 from 6 pm to 9 pm. There will be 40 local restaurants and wineries participating. For more information, click here on this link.


   South Carroll Republican Club Meeting will be held at Ledo's Pizza on Tuesday, May 8. Dinner will start at 6 pm followed by the meeting at 7 pm.

Petition Drive Updates

 

   Many of my constituents have contacted me asking how they can sign a petition to put Same-Sex Marriage on the November ballot or oppose the new Congressional Districts. If you would like information on these issues, please go to mdpetitions.com.

Our office is open Tuesdays through Thursdays during the 2012 Interim from 9 am to 4 pm.
